Kitchen night light

For Anythings Goes PINK SATURDAY  I am showing a new light I bought for our kitchen.  Feel like changing things up a bit for the new year.

My new "EAT" sign fits the bill, we love the way it lights everything up after dark.

For those who follow me they know I love industrial pieces.

Enjoying January de-cluttering, introducing new pieces and enjoying the downtime.

Characteristic

Characteristic used as a noun is a special quality or trait that makes a person, thing or group different from others.

I purchased this beautiful piece of art a few months ago and it hangs at the top of my stairs.

What a list that describes our Lord.  It starts my day out each day with thanksgiving.

A little birdie told me

One of my favorite presents for Christmas was this little blue bird from my granddaughters.

This little birdie tells me that my girls love their hugs and kisses from me--that will never get old.

She sits on my window sill between my kitchen and sun room

Bare

Bare legs that is -  in the cold of winter!!!!

I see so many young boys walking to and from school in weather 20 degrees wearing shorts. Their tops are covered including a hat, are the legs exempt from freezing?

I researched on google and some people put cayenne pepper in their shoes and that helps to keep the legs warm!!! Weird.

Also some football players playing in the sub zero temps wear short sleeves as a form of intimidation to the other team. (I don't need sleeves--do you?) I wouldn't care, I'd rather not freeze.

A is for autobiography and author

To begin this round of ABC Wednesday I'm going to start with a tribute to my husbands nephew who left this world in September of  2015 at the age of 62.

Daryl W. Sprague was a victim of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma which was diagnosed with in 1995 at the age of 42.

In 2007 he wrote his biography about this disease and the trials he encountered along the way. It is a very inspiring story for anyone going through similar circumstances.

We spent the past 10 years at least -every Friday night going out to dinner with him and his wife and being a support team for them.  There were times when he was going to drug trials or treatment when we could not see him. He endured a stem cell transplant and was getting ready for another when his body just said "I cannot do this again".

My husband took him to his doctor appointments and his treatments many times over the years. He will miss having that one-on-one time with him.

We miss him so much but his life changed ours and we tried our best to lift him up every way we could.

His book is published by the Tate Publishing Company.  "Once was not Enough", a story of hope in the heartland.

The daffodil on the cover is a symbol of hope for those who suffer from non-Hodgskins Lymphoma.

Zepher

Letter Z is always a difficult one to find. However, I remembered that we have a vintage fan on our dresser.

Isn't it true that anything made years ago holds up so much longer? Take cars for instance, it would take a lot to damage an old 1950 chevy!!

These fans are being made today which are replicas but this one we have had since the 1960's.
The Hunter-Zepher company was found in the 1880's and that's all I could find out about it. Today the name Zepher has been dropped and it's the Hunter Co.

It's not for decoration, we use it every night to sleep.
